Uuuuuuuuugh.
That's an exasperated ugh, by the way. Not a disgusted ugh. So I've had my laptop since May 2007. It is a durable son of a gun. I think it's only lasted this long because I baby the hell out of it, and don't download anything stupid. However. It is getting slow, fragile and the wireless card is dying sporadically on me now. Not a huge deal. But the whole point of a laptop is mobility and not having to plug things on constantly. I'm taking a year off, and then going back to school to get my Masters Degree, and ideally I'd be out in the field taking measurements and I need something tough. I realise desktops are much cheaper and easier to build/update/upgrade/take care of, but I'm pretty much a nomad at this point, and if I'm going to continue down this road, I would really prefer a laptop. Do you guys have any stories/recommendations for tough, durable laptops? I don't need super quality graphics or anything here, this would be for goofing around on the internet, typing out reports, entering data, and maybe the occasional streaming movie. And my fingers are too fat for netbooks, so I would rather not go down that road. .....sorry, that gif has nothing to do with anything, but it makes me giggle every time. |
