NyteMare is DC bound! As of 7 a.m. Central time tomorrow, I will be on my way to Washington, DC! As a few of you already know, I'm getting the hell out of Iowa and moving to DC for grad school. The last week has kept me in constant emotional turmoil, between saying goodbye to my closest friends, packing everything I own into boxes and duffel bags, and anxiously waiting for the big day to arrive. Now that it's almost here, a lot of my anxiety is being replaced with excitement about the next two years.
But first, I have to
get to DC. Over the next 3 days, my parents and I will be driving about 15 hours, crossing several states before we hit the promised land. I've accumulated a lot of stuff over the last 21 years, so we rented a small U-Haul pull trailer, which is now filled to the point where no one is allowed to open the door for fear of everything falling out. While my parents take turns driving our SUV (which is pulling the trailer), I'll be driving my car. Supposedly someone will be navegating for me, but the route is pretty simple: Hop on I-80 East and
drive.
For anyone wanting to stalk my route, or if you're confused about where Iowa is, here's my route poorly drawn with MS Paint:
I've stocked up on candy, the ipod is loaded with my favorite songs, and my trusty metal coffee mug will be kept full for the duration of the trip. Let the adventure begin! :-D
