Age discrepancies and The Super SixAs I was about to start writing this journal, I noticed that my age up top of this page says I'm 28.
That is infact incorrect. I'm 18. If I figure out how to change it, I will. I never noticed until now.
Anyway, I am now running a tournament called "The Super Six League". It's an idea I've been toying with for a while and it's been refined and re-sized to this mini league set up which I really think has some potential.
My original plan was to have 7 of the playoff placers in the UK league face off against each other in a completely UK only tournament with something a little different points-wise, to make each game more interesting and dramatic. When 3 of these either declined due to team problems or were unreachable, I decided I was going to invite the 8th playoff placer (Whom I thought would not like the rules of the tournament much, but they decided to join), and then I had to choose another team to play among these behemoths. I could have made it a five team tournament and called it The Final Five or something but I didn't want people knowing about my closet Battlestar Galactica fandom.
I decided to pick Sarge's Angels, who I've mentioned in my blog a couple of times as being a good up and coming team. Their tenacity has impressed me and they're definitely improving. It was an easy choice to make and I'm sure they'll make a great addition to the tournament.
It all kicks off on Tuesday the 24th, and there should be some amazing games when you look at the line up we've got. Making this thing invitational was perhaps the best move I made, because there is nothing but grade A games on the schedule. I'm really looking forward to it and I hope the teams are too.
The GBGB's (Woo!) get to face our favourite scrimmers Chupathingy in our first game, and from there it's a bit of a rollercoaster ride of good teams until we arrive at a thrilling Death on Call conclusion.
For all the action, rules, regulations and long posts involved, check out:
This thread right hereThe GBGB's are holding something of a tryout session at 7pm today (Sunday), provided our nuggets turn up. If they don't we'll host another one, but we should be finalising our roster very soon... Summer League Signups are heading our way.
I think that's everything.
