UNSC: 2552 The year, is 2608.
It has been fifty-six years after the Human-Covenant War. After March 3rd in 2553, everything had changed for humanity. They were down to nothing and they had to rebuild. They did, and they did this with the help of their new Sangheili allies. Still going after almost 60 years, the humans and the Sangheili have been the greatest companions since that day in 2553. Today you could see them talking together, working together, eating together, and in some rare cases, living together. The two cultures of humanity and Sangheilist have now melded for the better, humanity giving their more practical ways and designs while the sangheili contributed art, music, and science into the human society.
The United Nations Space Command is now co-led by a very important political and religious symbol of the Sangheili, the nameless Arbiter of the Great War, now grizzled and wisened in age, overlooks many issues and speaks for the Sangheili race.
Of so many years of peace, the government has cut funding on military savings and spending it on expansion and terraformation of planets throughout the milky way, and also spends money to investigate any Halo arrays in the process.
The UNSC's military branch was getting unfairly poor and many had to quit their boring, eventless jobs in order to keep a healthy income.
However, one day the Public Relations division of the military branch came up with an idea to bring back a dead media to the public in order to make more money within the branch. They wanted to make a video game.
Around 400 years ago in 2213, video games had dwindled in popularity due to the fact that they were no longer improvable. No one was looking for a fun, innovative game with the best graphics and game engine any more because they played it all. By 2250, the gaming industry was dead.
However, back then humans did not have the technology to do any kind of virtual reality. Sure, there were attempts, but unlike today, they did not fully immerse you into the game.
The PR division is hoping to spark some light back into the video gaming industry (and to earn some more money) to release the PC game that could be described as one of the most realistic, immersive game yet:
