Samantha's father passed away yesterday. He was in and out of hospitals and homes for the last year and just never got well. We'll be flying to NY for services Wed/Th and a mass on Friday, then flying back Friday night. Not a great way to spend Samantha's birthday (the 23rd, Friday) and not how I wanted to meet Samantha's extended family. My brother had major surgery to remove a tumor from his skull (this is Ryan's 3rd cranial surgery in a year) last week and that went well. I talked to him for a while yesterday when he called with his condolences for Samantha. His speech is unfortunately where it was after his last surgery (somewhat slow and stuttered) but he said he's feeling pretty good. His recovery time after his previous surgery was easily a week and this time he was well enough to go home after a couple days so everyone was just floored by that. I hope he can finally put this all behind him and get back to working and stuff. I've been doing ok. Work is a rollercoaster (that's sales for you) but I'm pretty comfortable in my work and my ability to do it. Samantha's adjusting well to her job too and we're both loving our place in Chilton. Our electric bill was only $55 last month! Everyone have a merry Christmas and a happy new year. |
