My first journal - Saints Row the ThirdHe readers, like i said this is my first journal entry. I've been a huge RT fan for a long time but have never known what to write in a journal, or if anyone will ever see it.
Just quickly a little about myself seeing as this is my first time, and I want to be more involved in the community. So skip this bit if your after the Saints part of the journal. I grew up in Brisbane Australia and I now live and study in Geelong Victoria, Australia. I study IT and business information systems. I'm always curious how many people actually know what BIS is.My interest would be similar to the average RT fan, spending a lot of time on my computer and Xbox, watching movies with mates and listenin...

Just quickly a little about myself seeing as this is my first time, and I want to be more involved in the community. So skip this bit if your after the Saints part of the journal. I grew up in Brisbane Australia and I now live and study in Geelong Victoria, Australia. I study IT and business information systems. I'm always curious how many people actually know what BIS is.My interest would be similar to the average RT fan, spending a lot of time on my computer and Xbox, watching movies with mates and listening to music etc. My gaming background was one of first gen PlayStation, then to the GameCube. All my friends had N64's when I had my PlayStation so I moved to the Nintendo franchise, only to have them all get the first Xbox. When the 360 came out I saved and got one of those, I've never been so converted so quickly and have loved my Xbox ever since. As far as achievements are concerned they have brought a lot to the industry. I've never been too focused on 100%ing games, more so the competition of higher gamer score. the only one to date was Halo 3. That is until now.
I played Saints Row 2 and thought it was a laugh, played the story through and that was about it. With the onslaught of games that have just come out the choices were hard. I played BF3 and decided I wanted to 100% another game, but being so multiplayer driven the frustration of wrong maps etc was too much. Im in my final semester of studying at the moment so I needed a game that I could pick up and play and just walk away from. This obviously wrote off Skyrim so I decided to give Saints 3 a go. Lets just say I made the right choice. Who cares about it being over the top and unrealistic, its a video game, just doing what they should do! Ive never had so much fun playing through a game, finishing the story line and then going after all the achievements so I had direction in the game. Running around just looking for cars with hostages to take was fun! I cant wait for the DLC to come out, but here is my issue.
The game allows you to upgrade you character to a point that you might as well have cheats on. I cant be hurt by bullets, fire, explosives, vehicles or even falling. I have a never ending supply of bullets. So when additional content comes out, where is the challenge going to be? Its a hard situation because if they implement the feature of turning these off, to what degree would that happen. And then once they are off would you realize you want them back on? It almost seems that the feature of making your character godlike may in some unintentional way ruined any story based DLC to come. Im really interested in other peoples thoughts about this, so if someone does read this, let me know what you think.
Thanks guys,
Burgies out.
