We have won, for now...
Looks like congress actually does pay attention to the people's voice when they are afraid of losing their jobs anyways as they took SOPA back to the drawing board. I am very happy to see this and I sleep a little better knowing that our government still hasn't lost its fear of public opinion. So long as they never do we still have a chance to save our country. Part of me is worried, however, as it's only been "postponed" until they can get more support for a solution. I'm worried that we will be seeing a very similar bill sometime in the near future. This worries me because not only is it an issue of freedom but its one of the only parts of our economy still going strong, and we need the jobs it creates just as much. Even so, no matter the future outcome of SOPA (or its successor) we should all continue to remain vigilant to ensure that this free and open internet that we've come to know and love (and that brought us awesome companies like RT) continues to thrive, because the lobbyists behind this bill will try to get congress to slip it in as soon as we stop paying attention. I say this not because I'm a pessimist but because I'm a realist, the people with the power and money wanted something and they didn't get it. They won't stop until they do, and we can't stop until it becomes too costly for them to keep trying.
