Blast From the Past Hello everyone (or whoever is listening)! I wanted to write a journal because, quite frankly, I never do and I'm probably overdue for one. Anyhow, first off, let me thank everyone for having such a positive reaction to my Drunk Tank theme. And, as a result, many people have been requesting a copy for ringtones, so I present to you Drunk Tanked (Remastered)! (Because being me I can never truly finish a song) So, not only am I releasing it, but I jazzed it up with some facing filters and editing and all that good music stuff.
Alright, now back to my "Blast From the Past". About a month ago, I had plans to go to Florida. Two days before I was browsing the Star Wars: Revisited forums (if you don't know what it is check it out because it's mad cool), and there was a post about Star Tours 2. Now anyone who grew up in the 90's and has been to MGM Studios knows what Star Tours is... for those who don't, it was a Star Wars ride in which you went on a space tour that, you guessed it, goes horribly wrong. Of course, it was freaking awesome! But, about a year ago they decided to shut it down.
Of course, I was devastated to find this out, however, I read on and found out that "Star Tours 2: The Adventure Continues" would be opening that Friday... my first day in Florida. At that moment I knew it was meant to be. I wanted to be one of the first to ride it. ... It was awesome.
Basically what they did it create a ride with over 200 possibilities, making every time is different in some way (trust me, I rode it it four times). The ride is in 3D (which was actually very well done). It features a ton of Star Wars characters including C3PO (your pilot), R2, Vader, and Boba Fett. It's an amazing ride, and I recommend it to anyone who goes to Hollywood Studios.
This is the mob trying to get on the ride after the official opening. About a minute before this I saw George Lucas. It was cool, but at the same time I was tempted to throw and egg at him.
Here I am waiting in line. You can see the entrance in the photo in the lower center-left. At the time, I was shocked at how short the line was. Let's just say they diverted the line... halfway across the park. Longest theme park wait ever, but totally worth it.
Anyhow, after the first time, the waits weren't that bad. And at one point I got a free fast pass from an employee, which was freaking awesome because they were all gone within the first five minutes of the park opening.
To summarize, it was awesome. Everything in the park in the park was Star Wars themed, and they even incorporated it into all the other rides. Everyone was even saying "May the force be with you", and they had the Star Wars soundtrack blasting at the front of the park. It was incredibly epic and has made up for the disappointment that was Episode I. Also, they had this... hardcore. Again, it was an awesome day and I'm happy that I got to be there for it. If you'd like to see more photos. There's a few more posted here.
So, there's only other thing I wanted to mention, which is that I've begun to work on my senior thesis (I'm a film major for those that do not know). I started working on it in January (I'm the director), and at this time we have a final script, cast, and crew. We plan to begin shooting in September. The project is going to be a 40 minute TV pilot called "Kyle O'Connor and the Adventures of the Paranormal Society". So, I'll probably have more to say about that... at some point. Still a lot to do. Fucking a.
Anyhow, may the force be with you!
